Okay, ya'll. It's summer time. It has started with competition, travel, shopping, and meetings. Where will it go from here?
We kicked off summer with a visit to Bruster's. This has become a tradition on the last day of school. Ice cream makes the summer go better don't ya think? Maybe I should go back and have my favorite: white turtle ice cream with its smooth vanilla creaminess, crunchy candied and salted pecans, and sweet caramel swirled throughout. I didn't get to have any due to my pre competition diet. Hmm..... maybe I'll go tomorrow and have some.
My birthday was the following week. Since it was the night before weigh in, I couldn't even have a piece of cake. Weigh in for competition was the next day so I celebrated that evening. Chocolate cake is my favorite!
The next day, competition day...... It was a good day. My husband and I competed in the APC National Bench Press Competition. We both won our class and set new National and World records. I also won Women's Master Best Lifter. These wins qualified us to compete in the GPA World's Powerlifting/ Benchpress Competition in Argentina. It will be held the first weekend of December. We are so excited to represent our country. I guess now our attention will turn to raising funds for the trip and hard core training to bust some records big time. Do we consider sponsorships? Any takers? Here is a link to the latest competition article from Access North Georgia.
The day after competition, our family split ways and separated. My husband went north to Tennessee to work for a week and the girls and I headed south to Alabama to visit my family. I haven't spent a whole week with my family in 16 years. It was nice to spend time with them.
I was hoping that summer would allow us to slow down a little, but I'm beginning to wonder. I don't really see any daylight until July.
On the other hand, the girls have been riding their bikes the last couple of days. They loved every minute of it. Friends are ready and willing to play since there is no school work to do. I suppose we will get to the pool at some point.
There is definitely no break in meetings. My husband had two meetings last night and one more tonight. I am so glad he is home. I love seeing his face when he walks in the door.
