Busy Times

Spring break...ahhhhh..... not so fast. Some folks actually get to enjoy their time off for Spring Break.  There was a moment in there that was nice, but what a busy couple of weeks.

Before Spring Break, our oldest daughter, had a fun run at school to raise money for the school. Some running and a lot of walking got the kids around the track so they could earn money from their sponsors. Our daughter finished 23 of the possible 36 laps. Way to go!

Easter parties at school, this means gathering things together and having them ready to go. It's all fun though. Our youngest daughter and her class had a blast finding all their eggs that were numbered for each one individually. What a great learning tool for three year olds.

So, we're going camping in our new camper.  We decided to take it out for a couple of days for a dry run. We figured it would help us learn how to use everything before going on a long trip. It worked. We did pretty well and we even learned a few things. Of course, campers don't get loaded and prepped by themselves. So who took care of that? Yes. Me. Food. Clothing. Cookware. Bedding. Any other items that were needed. Yep. I loaded them.

I cooked about 20 pounds of chicken to get my husband and myself through the week and while camping. That's right. Camping while dieting so you can make weight for an upcoming competition is not fun. No s'mores. No home made ice cream made in the ice cream ball. No bun with a fire roasted wiener. We ate chicken, broccoli, water, and, oh, more chicken. Did I mention that I cooked 20 pounds of chicken in preparation for this trip?

We were able to get everything off loaded Thursday evening after we returned home. This time I had help. Two hands do make quicker work.

The day after our camping introduction was over, Friday, we had to weigh in for the APC Georgia State Powerlifting Competition. We did make weight, so we were able to compete in our usual classes on Saturday. It was an all day event. There was a great turnout and we didn't get finished until about 9:00 PM. The competition started at 10:00 am. Long day.

In the bench only category, my husband won his class and set new GA State and American records. I also won my class and set new GA State and American records. These wins qualified us to compete in the upcoming National competition in June. The Irondawg power team that we are a part of also won the team trophy and had their picture taken with a new framed resolution from the Georgia Senate. What an honor! While we were pressing heavy weight on Saturday, our girls spent the day with their God Aunts. I hear tell there were pancakes, ice cream, pizza, and no telling what else. They had a good time at the church wide Easter egg hunt.

Sunday. Easter! We worshiped in church and celebrated our risen Savior. Then, we went to the Grandparent's and hunted Easter eggs and ate a wonderful dinner. Mmmmm... Key Lime Cheesecake. It even looked Eastery with its beautiful mint green color. It was yummy after dieting for competition.

Monday. Back to school and back to the everyday busyness. Homework. Dinner. Meetings for myself.

Tuesday. Homework. Dinner. Sick child with diarrhea that I suspect came from the petting zoo today.  The painful kind. The unconsolable kind. Dad has a meeting, so here we are. Luckily it's was a short meeting and he walks in the door just in time to tuck our oldest into bed. I love it when he comes home, but there is no rest or snuggles for the weary today.

Guess it's gonna be a long sleepless night here on the couch with the little one.
